I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master's in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. My journey into the mental health field has been shaped by my initial aspirations in criminal justice, which provided me with a unique perspective on human behaviour, decision-making, and the complexities of trauma.
Originally, I set my sights on a career in policing, aiming to attend a police training academy with the end goal of becoming a criminal profiler. I was drawn to the dynamic nature of criminal investigations, the critical decisions made to uphold justice, and the range of cases that required thoughtful analysis. During my studies in policing, psychology, and criminology at Wilfrid Laurier University, I became increasingly fascinated by the psychological theories behind criminal behavior.
As I continued my academic journey, I realized that my true passion was not in criminal profiling, but in counseling. I found myself more deeply connected to the idea of understanding the human mind, supporting individuals through personal challenges, and helping them heal from past trauma. This realization led me to pursue a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, where I honed my skills in therapeutic techniques and developed a deeper appreciation for the profound impact of emotional support and guidance.
Today, I work with a diverse range of clients, offering a safe, compassionate space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported. I specialize in providing tools and strategies that clients can integrate into their daily lives, helping them navigate challenges such as trauma, grief, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. My goal is to empower individuals to manage their emotions, build resilience, and move toward healing and personal growth.
Whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply seeking a space for self-reflection, I am here to support you on your journey toward healing.
I have had the privilege of working in the mental health field for over five years, where I’ve gained extensive experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, grief, and complex relationships. My approach is client-centered, empathetic, and focused on helping individuals process and heal from their most difficult experiences.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with various organizations, allowing me to work with diverse populations facing unique challenges:
Elizabeth Fry Societies: I supported individuals who have experienced human trafficking, domestic and sexual abuse, addictions, and other forms of trauma. Through this work, I developed a deep understanding of the unique needs of survivors and the impact of complex trauma on mental health and well-being.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network at Sunnybrook Hospital: In this role, I provided compassionate support to individuals and families experiencing pregnancy loss, offering both emotional support and grief counseling during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Community Healing Projects Alumni Healing Retreat: As an on-site counselor, I worked alongside a colleague to deliver mental health discussions and activities for retreat participants. Additionally, I provided one-on-one counseling to help individuals process their emotional journeys in a safe and supportive environment.
Global Summit with Fora Network for Change: I provided counseling services to summit participants dealing with issues such as anxiety, work stress, past trauma, and family dynamics. This role enhanced my ability to support individuals in high-stress environments, helping them manage their mental health while navigating life’s challenges.
With a passion for trauma-informed care and a commitment to promoting healing, I continue to refine my skills as a therapist, learning new approaches and interventions to meet the needs of my clients. I believe in the transformative power of therapy and am dedicated to creating a space where individuals can explore their experiences, heal, and move forward with greater resilience and self-compassion.
